New job at Waterford Plant near Taft, LA (Kenner, River Ridge: rent, YMCA)

My husband has a job offer near Taft, LA. We are from Minnesota and know nothing about the area.

It looks like our options for places to move range from Gonzales to Mandeville to Kenner and others.

Can anyone tell me more about these places? We have a almost 3 year old and a dog.

I would probably work only minimal, so I would be looking for a city that has a mom's club.

Also, here in Minnesota, the YMCA has a kids care where kids can be dropped off while the parents work out. Does Louisiana have any gyms like that?

We also have early childhood education programs here that are classes the parent attends with the child. Is there anything like that in your area?

I think we would rent until we got to know more about the area.

I really appreciate any suggestions on the above!

Taft is close to good locations. Destrehan/Hahnville aren't bad-- good high schools as well if you want to think about that. River Ridge is a good option. I'd live pretty close to it. No need to drive that far.
