I mostly listen to cd's. It seems like if it's not ran by clear channel or main line media it's 37 stations of country, a few scattered rock stations one rap/r&b station. And then Lite 106. I try and listen to b96 but I hate R&B and I hate lame wayne. I often keep 98.9 and 99.7 on reserve when there's nothing on Fox rock or the max or GenX. I also try and catch 106.5 at night and on weekends when that guy pirates the channel with house and techno. Theres no real broad range of music here, no regae, no 50's style music like you hear at local car shows or the outer loop steak N Shake. I wish I could start my own station. Or have my own block on a current one.

91.9 WFPK for the WIN!!! Love that station! The weekly feed with Kyle Meredith is great! Also Nightvisions with the OK deejays is pretty interesting. Even roots and boots on Sunday is entertaining. WFPK is also great if you are trying to find out about local shows because they have the LEO concert calendar (which you can pick up at most shops around the highlands area).

WFPK sucks, but Louisvillians belief it' great. It's a clean, wholesome station that plays clean wholesome music. Just right for conventional, conservative christians who believe they are hip. WFPK plays music that would be acceptable at a Southern Baptist church picnic.
WFPK offers nothing out of the ordinary, just like the Louisville music scene. Louisville does not like alternative music.
WFPK's station manager, Stacey Owen, once replied to my email and stated that the average listener is 42.
I could name several bands and individuals (that are well known nationally and internationally) that I bet Louisvillians never heard of.
Louisville is a Lynard Skynard type of toouwwn. (Can't write the drawl accent).

For those who have never been to other cities and heard what college stations sound like WFPK surely must seem like an alternative station.

WFPK was just named one of the top five trend-setting stations in the country (FMQB, R&R, and All Access). It's also the most listened to AAA station in the U.S. (per capita).
