People on welfare have insurance - at the tax payers expense. I thought we were talking about the working people who don't have it.

Thank you RHB that is what I was thinking too.
I do have house insurance, life insurance and Aflaac accident, short and long term disability insurance. I am working full time and not sitting home asking others to pay my way. I am doing all I can to make ends meet.
My original question has been answered thank you.

Just for the record as hard as the decision has been I have decided to take the health insurance and will be covered as of September 1st.
The house is for sale and the future is in God's hands.
To anyone I offended by losing my cool I apologize. This has been a very, very tough decision and I took things personally although I do strongly disagree with some of the opinions or perhaps the way they have been worded I should not have added fuel to the fire.

I don't know how far behind you are on your mortgage payments (if you are) but you should consider talking to the bank. Sometimes you can make arrangements for "interest only" payments or other negotiated arrangements. They don't really want to take your house, they are holding more than enough already.

I am not behind at all, we have managed to stay current although it has not easy and we have cut back to bare bones. I have talked to the bank (Chase Bank) they are not willing to do anything until we are at least 30 days behind, in other words I have to miss a payment before they will talk to me. That makes no sense but it is what they tell me. We will continue plodding along and hope for the best.

Health insurance (as with any other insurance) is a wager. Your premium is a bet that you will get sick. I recently lost my health insurance when I retired. I still have a few years to wait for Medicare. I figure I just picked up my chips and left the table.

Dont worry, if you do get in an accident or seriously ill "we the people" will pick up your tab, for you its gambling, for us its just another deabeat to pay for.

I figure I paid for plenty of deadbeats in 35 years of working and paying taxes.

Out of curiosity, what would you do if you were in a car accident tomorrow and needed 100-200K of reconstructive surgery? About about 100-200K of cancer treatment? You mentioned you were uninsured and have a few years before Medicare kicks in....it sounds like you might be one blown stop-light or tumor away from being a dead beat yourself.

Just sayin'

And guess what? All of your long term friends here in CD will be right here with you, hoping and praying that things turn around for you guys. Some times bad things happen to good people, the rest of us know that you're good hard working honest people, the other peoples opinions... just don't matter!

For the rest of you who have all decided to pass judgement on someone you don't know, shame on you.

That is exactly what insurance is for. Hence you must insure you have the correct type and amount at all times. You also must insure all parts of your life that is simple common sense.

I hope the insult comment was not aimed at me. I do not wish to insult anyone. I simply think people should have to care for there own life and do not think if it just to steal from one person to support another.
