Howdy,
I'm wondering how much snow can be expected on the ground during the Christmas period through new year in the Greenville area.
Thanks,
R

If it does snow alot between now and christmas, chances are, they'll be snow on the ground- quite the technical answer, but thats one of the mysteries of maine, you could have an inch or a foot,
hard to say, it's probly a safe bet a few inches will be on the ground..

What mainebrokerman said plus I predict about 7 inches of snowpack by then with 3-5 inches of fresh powder by the 22nd. Then at Christmas, another light dusting. That's ms guess anyway. hth

nice picture

I'll make a prediction, based on the farmers almanac, global warming, the mayan calender, and the caterpiller nests

we will get above average precipitation this winter, but it will also be warmer than last year, so we will get plenty of snow, but like 5-6 yrs ago, we will get more rain/sleet mixed in with the snowstorms

I watch The Farm Report at 5 AM Sunday mornings. Last Sunday the prediction for Maine, NH and VT for the next 90 days was temperatures colder than normal and precipitation higher than normal. These guys are usually right. They predicted the cold wet summer we had 4 or 5 years ago and when they predicted it we were having a delightful warm and sunny May.

Come to Greenville anyway. The snowmobiling will be great, but be VERY careful about venturing onto any ice in December. Best to stay on solid ground until February and even then check with the locals.

It seems very mild from the temps that have been reported lately. My folks said that in NH very few pines have cones this winter so fewer seeds for the wildlife.

There's an old saying amongst pilots that "There are bold pilots and there are old pilots, but there are very few bold old pilots." I imagine the same might be applied to snowmobiling. You won't see me on the ice.
