My electric bill here in Mass is typically $180 a month. Probably all the kids coming home to do laundry and the one that lives with me being afraid of the dark at 32 years old.

Hey, maybe many people do! Lots of homes only have one teeny, dim light on at night and just as many homes have NO lights on at all from sundown to sunup.

How many lights do you need to be on?

Excise tax: $650 +/- (Also, 2 cars;'98 and 05, 1 motorcycle, 2004)
Sewer: $338.40 $84.60 per quarter
Water: $456.00 $114 per quarter
Trash: $240.00 $20 per month
Total: $3,180.26
What exactly does "homestead deduction" mean in Maine?

Is it the same amount for everyone, or just seniors?

What is excise tax - just on your car??

Is the electric cost per KWH the same all over Maine, or is it lower in some places? Which places?

Homestead deduction is a small amount deducted from the assessed value of your property.

Excise tax is what other states would call road tax. Generally less than other state's taxes.
