I'm guessing most of you who live in the Southern part/Portalnd Area have been outside the state many times but I'm curious to know if there are many from the northern, more isolated areas who have never ventured outside the state.

Well, as for me, I've been out of state many times; though it's been a few years since my last excursion.

That said, I've known some people from the Belfast area that have never been out of state, not because they're absolutely contented where they are, but they're afraid to travel. It's really quite a sad state of affairs, if you ask me. They won't even go to Bangor or Augusta, let alone any further, for fear of the "big city."

Why leave the state when all the others come to you?

P.S. Yes I've left the state.

Most folks I know in northern Maine go to New Brunswick or Quebec fairly often.... With all due respect, with the comment about southern Mainers most likely getting out more, the OP seems to assume that the only places worth going to out-of-state lie south of Kittery.

If one doubts that there is anything of merit *north and/or east* of Maine, only only need count the numbers of New Brunswick-registered cars and RVs on 95.

My career included a lot of travel [mostly overseas]. We moved to Maine after I retired. Since moving here we have made trips to DC, Ct, Mo, Ks, Ca, Ha, etc.

Among our Maine friends; many are from out-of-state. I am not aware of any of them who have never been outside of Maine [unless possibly children].
