okay let me rephrase it- I dont believe that any state can function if it has a disproportionate number of retirees, especially a low industry state like Maine. They are not a source of growth.

But my point stands if the discussion is about non retirees main can be very untenable.

Unless your saying because I am military? Maine enjoys among the highest concentrations of vets of any state in the USA.
Hey, Mr. Sub, since you are a vet, do you know if a lot of vets retire in Florida? Florida has a very large retired population. It seems to be working out reasonably well there, although it is tough to raise school taxes on retired people who do not use schools. I think it works out well for Maine, too. My view is that it helps keep the crime rate low since retired people conduct very few breaking and entering crimes.

Wasn't it you who says Maine is not a paradise? Like comparing Maine to Hawaii or the Caribbean? Can't have it both ways.

You're the one that said retired people can't be the target demographic. All I did was point out where there is one.

Mainelander, there is some truth in most of your posts but they come across awfully negative. Hurts the message.

Example: I have been super-poor in Maine, and I have been fairly well-off in Maine. Either time, Maine was a beautiful place. That didn't change. (But as I said before, I didn't have to live in Lewiston).
