Here it is the last day of February and no relief in sight. They are telling us there will be at least another week of this deep freeze. It seems this winter most of our discretionary money is being used for heating the house. Glad we set a little aside for eating out. Seems this is our salvation this winter. Spring has never been so welcome.

You probably need to get used to it. This is what winter in Maine will be in the future---at least for the rest of my life. Back to the 1950-1980's in temperature for winters. The pacific duo ocillation and the atlantic duo oscillation have both gone cold. We have no records of when they both did this at once. Usually its one or the other but not both.

If I live another 40 years it may swing back but I'd have to be 105 then, and we would need to have developed some real break throughs in longetivity research.

awesome, this is one of the main reasons we moved here. Says the average high temp mid summer is just 78 degrees. That blows my mind growing up somewhere that required air conditioning 10 months out of the year. The last few years we have had very warm summers, I hope that changes and we go back to cold and snowy winters.

I like spring, it brings with it a lot of work though [hauling manure, tilling soil, planting, pruning, etc]

I like winter too.

I'm with you. After living in a place that requires a/c all year round, I'm loving this cold. I knew when I moved here it would be cold, and I'm loving every single second of it.

I love winter and snow. Here's what I hate and am tired of: ice. I hate the feeling that I am going to fall and break something just going out my front door. When I can go out my front door. Or side door. I have had to go out the window this winter once already.

I think I mind the ice below our feet almost everywhere more than the cold. Especially since this city doesn't do a thing with the downtown sidewalks. They made the decision a few years back that each business was responsible to keep their own section clear but many just don't bother and some are empty storefronts. It was kind of disgusting when going to the Bagel Shop a few weeks back and we were forced to walk IN Central street as the sidewalks from the Museum along Harlow right down to the BS were thick with ice and treacherous. Come on Bangor, is it that difficult to clear the business district sidewalks of ice? It seems that every storm, even those that drop only 2" of snow the plow rumbles by, on my street, a minimum of 5 times on each side.
