Not where I live Robin. What a fun idea though. I'm such a nerd that whenever I see a car down here with Maine plates on it, I just want to honk and wave as if I know them, like an idiot pretty much. I have Florida plates on mine, so they'd just think I was ... an idiot honking and waving.

My Maine plates are displayed on my bedroom nightstand.

I can do a few sips of the Moxie, but that's it. It actually really quenches my thirst on a hot summer day--but I can't drink more than a couple of ounces My Dad *loved* Moxie, it was always around when we were growing up. I haven't personally been to the Moxie Festival, but there is a group of kids from this area that travel down every year. One of them even has something about Moxie on his license plate!

BTW, can someone remind me again what's happening with Maine Roaster's?
No, the brand is officially named Maine Root.

maine root

By the way, I tried Moxie for the first time last night. Had one sip and that was it Yuck doesn't quite describe it. I would suppose that it is an acquired taste, no?

That root beer sounds fantastic! There's such a differance in taste between cane sweetener and corn sweetener. Thanks for the link.

Shipyard Brewing makes an award winning Rootbeer called Capt'n Eli's Rootbeer
It's very good. I believe they charge it with nitrogen instead of CO2 so it gets this incredibly frothy foam on the top like a good Guinness Stout. It really is good!

Whatever happened to Portland Lager?

Oh and I love Moxie. Been drinking it as long as I can remember.

The website says that they charge $25 for a 12-pack, but if bought at Hannaford's $25 could get you a case. Don't know why ordering online is twice as expensive. Must be shipping?

Maineah,

Haven't tried Capt. Eli's root beer, but had the ginger brew. It was okay I guess, but not quite as good as Reed's.

I tried the ginger brew. I thought it was too strong for my tastes. Neither my son or wife liked it either.

I too like Moxie....not as sweet as the typical sodas plus everyone in the family hates it so it's the one soda no one else will touch. I also like the old time Stewarts and Captn Eli soda's.
