That's what I wouldn't want to see happen in Maine!
I share your concerns.

There will soon be a New Brunswick right here in Maine as soon as the Naval air station closes. All of the 1000's of base housing units will be up for sale. Many military oriented vendors will go out of business. The "New Brunswick" may be kind of a ghost town!

Hold on there.

NAS Brunswick is a tiny little base.

They employ a total of 4,863 personnel, military and civilian combined. The base' biggest effort is it's SERE school.

I can't find how many housing units they have, but I doubt they have much over 1,000 dwellings.

I stayed in their barracks for two weeks when I was being processed for retirement. It is a very small base.

It may be small but there are hundreds of houses on McKeen street and other areas of the town owned by the Navy. The base has been downsized over the years and many areas have been sold off to the public. I still believe that between the on base and off base housing units there must be over 1000 still. There are large neighborhoods in town that are all Navy personnel. My brother lives there and I assure you these housing units exist.

A little closer to the original topic, perhaps a post on the Canada forum might yield some information on New Bruswick, especially if the OP asked some specific questions?
