I have thought and agonized about this election in depth for months. I do not trust McCain as he has shown himself to not only cross the aisle, he even votes contrary to popular opinion on a number of issues that even the left will concede as un-American such as amnesty for illegal aliens and unconstiutional gun bans.
On the other hand I like Obama even less. I believe his expansion of government is socialist as is his promise to raise taxes on businesses making more than $250,000. He will implement a cap and trade carbon dioxide policy that will cripple corporations, bankrupt the coal industry and more than double the price of electricity. This in turn will destroy companies ability to expand their business, hire workers and provide benefits. Sure the downtrodden, me first types, love him as they will all get something for nothing.
I do not believe the polls as they have been completely wrong since 1980 when Reagan creamed Carter....the polls had them even two days before the election... Reagan won in a huge landslide.
So I will do what I have done for the last four or five elections and go vote for the candidate I DISLIKE the LEAST!
I will vote for McCain because I believe Sarah Palin may actually do something as Vice President. Even if she does squat (as most of them end up doing) she's nice looking and that's as good a reason as any to vote for McCain!

I couldn't even come close to put this in my own words. But Maineah has hit it on the head, and that is exactly how I see it. Good job Maineah.

Interesting comments. Pretty much following some sort of party line, and mostly obscuring or obfuscating the simple fact that we have garnered a virtually unstoppable amount of debt and no candidate has addressed the real need to change most of the so called, traditional ways American's do business here and abroad.

Does anyone actually think that McCain is going to be able to exercise a line item veto over spending in the face of what is surely going to be a democratically controlled Congress? I have heard that talk before and it has never yet happened.

Does anyone seriously believe that Obama's pledge to tax the wealthiest Americans and grant a tax reduction to the majority of Americans actually pass the "straight face test"? Sijple put: the numbers just do not work.

In the end I doubt that Obama is nearly as revolutionary as he sounds. Electioneering rhetoric is always grandiose but usually doesn't last ten seconds after the votes count.

McCain's promises and prebilled strengths in foreign policy simply will not work. We can bluster all we like but our military is NOT capable of waging war everywhere, and until and unless we reinstate the draft the boots will not be there in numbers enough to make a dent in the ground. In the end, we will have more of the same sort of Republican stuff, heavily modified or diluted by that pesky Congress.

I don't pay much attention to the vice presidential candidates. Neither one of them should be elected to lead a grundy hunt, but of the two, Palin will be hidden deeply in the recesses of Washington's closets allowed to come out to cut the ribbon at charity bake sales and little else.

Joe Biden won't be allowed to step on his tongue too many times either, so the Vice President will only be that mysterious figurehead that appears when Congress is in session and otherwise is on "important" missions out of sight and sound.

And the debt will get deeper and our great grandchildren's future darker because we all want to believe in miracles.

No

Party has nothing to do with my opinon, both these guys are far from anyone I would pick to be my president. But like I tell Friends, vote it is your right, if you don't(vote), then I don't want to hear you complain how things are going, because you chose not to be herd. Make sure you are herd Acadianlion

I'm not willing to gamble on that issue. Obama will most likely have a fillibuster proof Congress virtually guaranteeing all his Robin Hood proposals will pass handily. With Congress in his back pocket he will implement policy virtually at will. No president should wield that kind of unstoppable power. Checks and balances go out the window. If you think the deficit is high now just wait until universal health care is forced upon us along with the carbon credit stupidity. Sarah Palin would not have signed on for a trip to obscurity. She was gauranteed an active role in a McCain administration . She is more popular than McCain himself and should they win tomorrow he would do well to use her skills to his benefit and avoid rasing the ire of his thin supporters even further!

I voted no on 3, because it is not government's job to subsidize water or sewage disposal for anyone.

Hey Acadianlion you could go vote for the questions and then write me in for president. I wouldn't tip the scales like Nader did but it would be cool. :P

I believe and hope that the Democratic Party will controll both houses of Congress and the White House; that is really essential to rescue the country from the disasterous last 8 years....America is in Crises.

That being said, the Democratic Congress will not be in locked step; the conservative Democrats from Western and Midwestern States will not be of the same type as those from Massachussets and more liberal states. But they will all have an interest in getting to work on the nations business....none of them will be motivated, as the Republicans hve the last 2 years...in blocking progress and being obstructionists. It will be time for Republicans to forget the lessons they learned with Tom Delay and Newt Gingrich and get back to the brand of Republicanism that respected the Constitution and loved America more than power.

There is more than enough work and more than enough honor to go around to those who are willing to work together to rescue America.
