Got to see it! It was neat. Thanks for the heads up.

It rises in the west (Yes, it's true.) slowly ascends and you appreciate the immense speed as it goes overhead. Then it moves into the brightening dawn where you eventually lose sight of it. I'm glad somebody else saw it. I was at Raymonds in Lee and a guy filling his tank also saw it and knew what it was.

I hope it stays up there for a long time, but it might just decay and crash somewhere like that Russian Mars probe did this weekend. Unless we make some big changes in the world economy there will be no money to fund space exploration.

Augist 11 will be a good night for skywatching it is clear. It will be the annual Perseid meteor shower. We will watch it from the dock at camp where there is NO light pollution. You can't see any other buildings on the lake. The meteors come from the southeast.

In addition, the space station will move west to east twice

ISS 08:43:50 pm W 08:47:03 55° -3.5 (very bright)

ISS 10:21:04 pm WNW 10:23:24 26° -2.0 (very bright)

Tomorrow night, August 6, it will go nearly directly overhead and be visible over three minutes

ISS 09:56:20 pm WSW 09:59:35 71° -3.9 (very bright)

For our space fans, it is crystal clear out there. The International Space Station will rise at about 6:45 PM in the due west tonight. It will only get up to 32 degrees above the horizon before it disappears as it enter's the earth's shadow.

ISS 06:44:23 pm W 06:47:28 32° -2.4 (very bright)

Tomorrow night and Saturday night it will be cloudy. It will likely be clear on Sunday night when it rises in the due west again.

ISS 05:54:52 pm W 05:58:05 40° -2.9 (very bright)

ISS 07:32:24 pm WNW 07:34:49 27° -2.0 (very bright)

All of Maine should be crystal clear tonight. It is the new moon. It will be very dark and a fine time to observe the International Space Station. It will rise in the SSW right after supper at 6:07 PM and be visible for over three minutes until it disappears into the earth's shadow. Sometimes there is a flash just as it disappears. That is the sun reflecting off the solar panels.

ISS 06:07:00 pm SSW 06:10:17pm 51° -3.4 (very bright)

It could be visible numerous times this week depending on our weather.

OK, space fans. If it's clear tomorrow night we'll see the space station rise after supper.

ISS 06:02:22 pm WNW 06:05:42 65° -3.8 (very bright)

We won't see it on Monday, but on Tuesday it will be back.

ISS 06:00:45 pm W 06:03:09 27° -2.0 (very bright)

It won't be very high above the horizon so get to a hilltop to see it. Amaze your friends. Most people have never seen it.
