I am not sure I could place a time for "peak" colors... it is such a gradual transition and each tree has its own timetable.

Here in Corinth, as I look East from the office, I see much color. The only greens are from evergreens and though there are a couple of trees in my sight that are bare they are by far the minority.

On our trip to Bangor this week I saw a maple that, the week before, had shown bright red one the end of one branch -- quite striking against the dark green tree. This week, the single brush stroke of red had flamed upward, engulfing the entirety of that major arm but the remainder of the tree was still green.

It's been absolutely breathtaking here for the last couple of weeks. It's just now starting to "fall", the leaves are starting to gather under the trees.

We went from pre-peak to past-peak in two hours yesterday due to very heavy rain.

Ditto here, NMLM. We went up to King's Landing last Saturday. The weather was great, and the leaves couldn't have been better! Not only was the color vibrant, it was so vaied--reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and greens that were going to yellow, plus the darker greens of the evergreens.
But it rained here Sunday and Tuesday, and brought down a lot of leaves just as they were about to peak. But I can't be disappointed. I had heard how gorgeous New England is in fall, and it is living up to the rep. Then again, I'm happy with any indication that the seasons have changed.
