Default Is there a commerical or downtown area for Elkridge, MD?

Is there a commerical or downtown area for Elkridge, MD?

If not, where do most people who'd live in Elkridge, gravitate towards for restaurants, shopping, etc.?

Like most Maryland towns, the commercial area is a couple of strip malls and generic shopping centers. In Elkridge, it's along Route 1, north of Route 100. I would imagine most people in Elkridge go to Columbia or to the Arundel Mills area for shopping.

Mostly Columbia or Ellicott City. I lived in Elkridge until October, but steered clear of the rte 1 area.

Most shopping you would want is probably 15 minutes away. The Giant grocery on Marshalee Dr in the Lyndwood neighborhood is a pretty good store. Arundel Mills and Columbia Malls are not far, and the big box stores centers in Columbia and EC are also close. Lots of restaurants everywhere, even in the suburban areas of Elkridge.

If there was a downtown, it might be possible that a good bit of it was damaged in Hurricane Agnes (1972) and was redeveloped elsewhere. That's before my time.

The most interesting part of old Elkridge along the river is now an elegant restaurant: Elkridge Furnace Inn

I remember along Route 1 (in the 1970's and 80's) there was a biker bar, where dozens of Harley riders gathered outdoors on a patio. It was not elegant!
