My wife is from Maryland and we are trying to get back to the Eastern Shore. I currently have a very good job as a financial professional (30yrs) and can’t just drop what I’m doing and move before I find a new job. I have however, in preparation already sold my house. For the last several months I have tried all the normal inter net posting sites and Maryland State sights. With absolutely no luck or even a response. The Eastern Shore is just a preference and we are willing to relocate almost anywhere in Maryland. Anyone got any suggestions?

Eastern Shore of Maryland is not exactly the best job market--I think Easton and Salisbury are probably the largest employment centers (someone else on this board might have better information, however). If you haven't already done so, you should really tap your contacts in the financial services field asking them if they have any contacts on the Eastern Shore. The Annapolis/Anne Arundel County area might have better job prospects. The Baltimore Sun and Evening Capital (Capitol?) are two newspapers you might want to review. There are other areas in Maryland where your job prospects might be better -- Baltimore, Frederick, Hagerstown, SIlver Spring, Columbia, Rockville/Gaithersburg.

Default Relocation Assistance????

Thanks Hedgie for your valuable in put and we are open to all areas of Maryland. I have in fact been using some of my contacts in Salisbury and so far I have had no results. I have not yet established contacts anywhere else in Maryland. I have been reviewing the Sun. But I have not looked at the Capital before and will start using this as an additional resource. Again thanks. We have been trying to relocate for the last several months and one import lesson I have learned is that apparently there are no reliable recruiters. They have all left a very bad taste in my mouth. I now don’t even use recruiters at my current job.

You can look in Northern VA too -- you can get to a job in Tysons Corner from the MD suburbs of DC, for example.
