I got my first dose Friday after blundering into the CVS scheduling website at just the right time. Twenty minutes later all their slots were filled.

It still was a typical Calvert County cluster**** (I seem to using that word often recently) with people reporting at Maryland Standard Time (15 minutes later than scheduled), blocking cars in the parking lot, trying to get in without an appointment, the checker not having an updated list of registrants, etc.
I got my second shot today. See above for Maryland Standard Time. Today was an hour and fifteen minutes late so they must not adjust for the time change. After all these years I hadn't noticed.

The other things I mentioned a few weeks ago were also present today.

iirc, HoCo is going to be late to game, as usual, with a plan to at the very least have a site selected and approved by the end of April --around the time when Maryland is expected to open eligibility to everyone. From what I have been reading, this only means the site will have been selected by then, but not necessarily operational. Then again, everyone I know around here who has at least one shot got them outside of Howard County and the County has placed top priority on those associated with schooling, seemingly above everyone else.

What's sad is that HoCo further relaxed restrictions on restaurants just in time for St. Paddy's day, but although restaurants are considered a high-risk environment by the CDC, State, and local health officials, restaurant workers are among the lowest priority group (in Maryland), who, if infected, have a higher probability of spreading it to others over other groups.

My wife received her second does back in February. Her only reaction was a sore arm.

Had to go to the Alexandria area yesterday. Decided to drive down to Old Town.
Place was packed, no parking available etc. Narrow sidewalks packed with people, spilling onto the streets as usual.
I'd guess maybe 20% not wearing masks. Got my a$$ out there.....

This is absolutely Hogan's fault. I couldn't believe it when he lifted the restrictions right before St. Paddy's day. This put the County Executives between a rock and a hard place. If Howard County had not gone along with the restrictions, many of its residents would have gone to restaurants in an adjacent jurisdiction.

Maryland's Covid cases are surging. It's interesting to follow the number of daily cases since Hogan opened up the state. Worse is the increase in the number of UK and S African variants. We're going to go into lock down if this continues. The goal was to immunize enough people to create herd immunity BEFORE the highly infectious variants took over.

It occurred to me the other day if I want to travel or dine with friends, etc. it would be best to do it now, given the current trajectory. The local news confirmed my suspicions.

US is vaccinating nearly 3 million people a day and Maryland still found a way to spike 80% in 3 weeks. Super impressive. God forbid people just dine outside or at home for another month.
