Where's the best place for a young family to move in Anne Arundel County?

My wife just accepted a position with the Anne Arundel County School District and I'm going back to school in the DC-area. So we are in the process of finding a place to live in Anne Arundel County. We've been to the area and loved Annapolis. We are looking to move in late-July or early-August.

The plan is to rent until we get to know the area better. We have two children who are toddlers. So I would like to find a place that is safe, family-friendly, and a close community. We have wishful thinking and hope to keep our rent between $1,000-$1,500 but we know the cost of living is probably more in the area than it is in Northeast Ohio. So spending a little more to get what we want is possible.

Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what rent goes for now in Annapolis but it was over $1000 for a 1 bedroom in an apartment complex a few years back. I wouldn't go north of Severna Park if it were me. Arnold is a good area with good schools. If she is working at the AACPS building off Riva you might want to stay west of the Severn River, the bridge can get backed up pretty bad in the afternoons, especially on Fridays and holidays. Crofton or Odenton would be good areas to look at that are nearby.

After another championship hopes & dreams being shattered this past season I could maybe use a break from Cleveland sports.
