I live in Boston and started a summer class at Salem State. I took 1A all the way up and it was fine around boston and a nightmare around salem-- go figure. So what's the best route of travel with minimal stoplights? It's a morning class, so the reverse commute out of Boston.

Try Rt1 to 95 to 128 to 114. You'll hit a few lights on 114 coming through Peabody into Salem, but over all should be a quiker route. Esp in the AM.

Which Salem State campus do you have to get to?

If you're going to the main campus, then 114 off 128 would be best. If the South Campus, then I would say Route 1 to Lynnfield Street in Peabody and then cut across Peabody and Salem to Vinnin Square and come in to Salem on 1A.
