Hi,
We are trying to find restaurants and/or bars that will host a wedding reception. We are hoping to have a small wedding --- about 60-75 max. I've been doing research myself, but am finding more places South of Boston than North of Boston. I live by the NH border and my fiance is closer to Boston, so we'd rather stay north of the city if possible. Anyone have any suggestions for restaurants that host wedding receptions or a good hall etc? We are trying to spend as little money as possible too! Wishful thinking! But I know we can do it! Thanks so much for your thoughts and suggestions!!!

You might consider Winnekenni Castle in Haverhill. It is surprisingly reasonable to rent the castle (seasonal) and you can use your choice of caterers (so you can do full meals, or lighter fare (fruit, cheese, crudites, etc) You have to use their in-house bartending service (I think that's a Mass law) For more information, go to Winnekenni Castle. Definitely do an image search to see if this would fit your needs. The castle can hold up to 100 row-seated guests, and 80 banquet-seated guests, so this might be perfect for your smaller wedding plan. Another place to consider is Zorvino Vinyards in Sandown, NH. Beautiful banquet facility, they supply the catering. I think both of these are definitely worth checking into

If you are really trying to keep costs down, I would look at the Knights of Columbus hall on Lynnfield Street in Lynn. It is pretty nice and offers easy access off of 128.

The Elks hall in Wakefield would be another good location, it is right off of 128.

I know you said you want to stay north of Boston, but just as a thought you can save a lot of money with a small group like that if you just do a group brunch. You can get a separate room for free. I had mine at the cafe Fleuri at the Langham hotel in Boston, which is one of the best brunches in town. I got a beautiful private function room with an additional sitting room for free for four hours, and we just got to pay for all-you-can-eat brunch buffet. It is one of the most beautiful hotels in town, too. And then you can get a horse drawn carriage from nearby Faneuil hall to pick you up.
