Being educated is what inspires a progressive attitude. Massachusetts citizens are considered Bay Staters, not Massachusites.

According to Wikipedia, "Massachusite" is a traditional term and "Massachusettsian" is archaic.

To answer the question, a hemispherectomy, be extremely liberal, enjoy political corruptness, wreckless spending, enjoy the never-ending scandals of the Kennedy's, allow illegal aliens to attend state schools at resident prices, make getting welfare as easy as picking up a penny off the street..... gee I could go on all day....
No flames please, as I lived there from when I was 6 until I was 35. But fortunately, you can wash most of that off when moving to another state that is decent.

You know what drives me nuts? All the Massachusetts bashing on here. If you don't like it fine...MOVE ON! No place is perfect but for me and other locals (born, raised and yes proud of it) it is. Your opinion is your opinion. If others differ please try to respect it.
Honestly I have never heard either Massachsite or Bay Stater. I am just a local or from Massachusetts.

Yeah, never heard of "Massachusite". And I'm with magicshark...if you don't like it, just leave! Outside of the cost of living issues, I think Mass. is probably the best state in the entire country.

Massachusetts IS the best state in the country. What does it mean to be a Bay Stater? It means pride, liberalism, wit, hardiness, and I just can't think of anything negative.
