Driving from providence to mashpee (New Bedford, Bedford: prices, best, places)

We are staying out in the Mashpee (New Seabury actually) and I am planning on taking a leisurely drive out there on Saturday...Just wondering if anyone has any great places I should stop along the way. Thanks!

a few suggestions for you:

new bedford (whaling museum)
fairhaven (fort phoenix)
mattapoisett (ned's point lighthouse)
buzzards bay (scenic highway - cape cod canal scenic lookouts)
sandwich (boardwalk, sandwich glass museum)

while in New Bedford for the whaling museum, go for lunch at Antonio's. Great Portuguese food, huge portions, cheap prices. Don't forget the Sailor's Bethel - the one that Melville wrote about in Moby Dick.
