Looking to relocate from small central Mass. town to be closer to family in Franklin. Did a brief drive through in Holliston, but wondered if this could be the place we could find a nice smaller home, and
might be happy as retirees to live? Need some info. re: services, shopping, housing availability (would
consider 55+ community), public transportation, proximity to medical facilities, real estate taxes, etc.
Appreciate any useful feedback.
There's a lovely adult community in Holliston called Balancing Rock Village that's close to plenty of shopping as well as Milford Hospital. You'd be about 5 miles from the train. The taxes are pretty high in Holliston though. 18.32 on $100,000.

Appreciate the feedback. Heard that taxes were 'up there' because our son was also interested in the town. Read about Balancing Rock village online, however, the prices, expansive floor plans & monthly
fee would easily drain a retiree's savings! Looks lovely though. So probably looking at a well-maintained
single-family home such as ranch, cape, or cottage-style. Not ready to consider a condo just yet.
There isn't a ton of home inventory right now, but you can usually find a smaller home in a nice area for a reasonable price (well, reasonable for the Boston area!) For ex, there's a 3bd 1ba remodeled home for sale with a new kitchen, septic, windows, electrical, etc in a nice neighborhood for $339,500. If you'd like to see what's sold recently I'd be glad to email that to you to give you a sense of the market in the area.
Hi folks, I saw a little discussion on taxes and being from Massachusetts originally I'm planning a move back after 30 years in Wyoming, one of the lowest tax states. Since my federal pension and SSI will not be taxed property taxes are most important so I wondered where in the Ashland area would have the lowest property tax without sacrificing some quality of life. Thank you!
