It's funny everyone else notices this too. I frequently drive I-84 (i.e. CT's ATM machine) to my parents house in PA. I am always passing in the slow truck lane especially going uphill. Seems like no one in CT has any torque. I think everyone drives in the left lane because they don't feel like changing lanes to pass the trucker traffic. So when they are on the MassPike heading west to CT, they just drive in the left lane at 70mph by habit.

It would be good overall if Connecticut just removed itself from the New England states. It is primarily an appendage of NY and an appendectomy from our region is in order.

I guess a lot of people are in grouchy moods right about now. There seems to be an abundance of crabbiness on CD lately. I like CT and have lived there and have relatives there. I do think they drive funny though.

I agree that there are terrible drivers in every state. However, there are way, way more terrible drivers in the Northeast and Florida than in other parts of the country.

I don't know about "up your way", but i can tell you that in CT, residents do camp out in the left lane on our highways.

And just as NY'ers infiltrated our state, they'll be coming for you soon enough!

I notice it in CT from NJ/NY/MA drivers too. In fact, I at least once a week pass a MA driver on the right during my 12 mile commute. Just a theory: those traveling for leisure are probably more likely to zone out and/or be distracted and drive poorly/slowly in the left lane than locals driving out of daily needs.

I will say, no fast lane is ever consistently fast enough for me except an empty one.

I also find drivers on 84 slower than on 91 and 95, for whatever reason.

One thing I notice when driving through CT is that no one seems to want to maintain a constant speed. One second your doing 73, then you're down to 55 two seconds later and for no apparent reason (on both 95 and 84). Happens in MA too but more so CT. I 95 from New Haven down, the drivers are homicidal. There and the DC Beltway probably have the craziest drives anywhere on the East Coast, save for SE FL.

Yep. As someone born and raised in CT, there is a sense of entitlement on CT highways. The "you can't tell me to move over!" attitude is abundant here. That being said, most people avoid the far right lanes because our highways are among the busiest in the nation, and nearly every on-ramp always has a solid volume of vehicles merging.

Anyway, coming from a CTer, our drivers are terribly selfish.
