Hi, I'm a 25 year old mom and housewife from Los angeles California . Me and my husband who is white are planning to move out to east long meadow Massachusetts. His family is italian and most of his extended family lives in town. So my question is, will the fact that I'm Hispanic be an issue for me? Will I be an outsider? Is it hard to make friends out there? I've read there isn't many Hispanic in that area so it's really worrying me. What should I expect? I've heard many things about this small town, so I'm having a bit mixed emotions. How is the life there and how are the people? And my last question is will I have a hard time finding a part time job since I'm Hispanic? Thanks in advance for all the answers. Very much appreciated!

East Longmeadow is a friendly town and I can't see you having problems there. In the past it was blue collar but now it probably is mainly professionals. There are cute houses and nice people.

It's not like its neighbor, Longmeadow. It's more down to earth and I think you'll like it. I don't think there are many Hispanics in East Longmeadow but I don't think people will hold it against you and not hire you for a part time job. As long as you are friendly, respectful, and qualified, you should be able to get a job. What kind of job are you looking for?

I will say it's kind of a boring place with nothing to do, just houses and a few stores on the outskirts. But at least you'll have your husband's family--and if they're nice, that's better than moving to a place where you don't know anyone at all.

The greater Springfield area has a large Puerto Rican community. You will hear Spanish spoken daily, there ethnic bakeries and grocery stores around. You will fit in just fine around here. No worries.
