What's it like?

Is it a nice place to raise a family?

How are the elementary schools?

What is there to do in town?

Is it more city like there or more country like?

Any info/opinions would be great! Thanks!

Do you mean Bradford in Haverhill? I don't know the area well, but it's a bit more city-like. Not like Boston or Springfield, but it's a small city or a large town. There are some wooded areas not too far away though.

Some people are down on Haverhill generally. Read about it here: is haverhill that bad?

Some say Bradford is the best part of the town: Haverhill Neighborhood

Sure. Bradford is part of Haverhill. It used to be a separate town but not anymore.

Default Bradford and the area

I lived in Haverhill for several years and was on the police force. Most of the crimes in haverhill are in the city or side streets. Bradford has little crime, but there is some just not major crimes. THere is a few robberies and assults here and there but its ok. I will give you a list of places to stay away from, these parts can be dangerous:

Washington St., all the side streets off of washighnton st which there are alot!

River Street and all the side streets
Aves: 4-9 are generally considered the worst
All the streets on the oppistite sides of the Aves such as Howard Street and LIncoln St.
Behind blockbuster and napolies pizza is where a lot of the crime takes place, these places are located just off of all the aves.

downtown area is fine, haverhill is considered a growing city. since the 1990s it has grown almost 10,000 in population, with over 60,000 people now. There are some country parts outside haverhill. Bradford is still a city in a way more of the suburbs, but houses are still close together which you will find a lot of that in Haverhill.

My advice is during the day you will most likely be fine with little trouble. but at night things start to pick up and a lot of crime does occur. for more info on the crime in haverhill just look up thecrime table. some ssections are over the US crime and soem are below

hopefully this willl help you get to know haverhill a little better!
