That's great, but it's still part of the United States and has to follow the same highway safety rules as the rest of the country.

And the exit numbers on I-95 restarted where the Turnpike starts; it was 1, 2, 3, 4, 1... The first time I went up to visit a friend at UNE in Biddeford, he said to get off at exit 4. I did, and ended up driving up 30 miles up Route 1 from York.

Well driving down the highway from Boston you are on Route 3 and when you get over the Sagamore bridge you are on Route 6. The numbers count down from the Braintree split off RT 93 as you get closer to Cape Cod and the bridge so one side of the bridge is exit 1 and the other is exit 1.

It works for us and the tourists certainly have no problems finding their way down here.

Most of the responders don't seem to have a problem renumbering the highway exits to bring them up to national standards. Call me a Yankee but I don't see why we should be spending 7 million dollars to fix something that isn't broken. I'd rather see the money go towards fixing a bridge or 2 that our Gov. keeps telling us are crumbling.
