You've posted multiple times that you also earn 6 figures. What does this have to do with anything? We're just answering the question and as others have pointed out, different perspectives are appreciated. You sound even more obnoxious than I am, if that's possible

Ive seen other threads with you going on about how much you make and you even said coming to these forums makes you realize how fortunate you are. Clearly you come here to brag and feel better about yourself at the expense of those less fortunate than you.

I enjoy reading the real estate threads which is why i clicked on this one. Maybe i will stop clicking as much as it always seems to turn into a competition about who makes more and who has done better in life and haha to anyone who can't afford a home in weston or Wellesley.

Rewind 5 years and you have a 30 year old Parsec who thought every white collar worker made 6-figures mid-career in Boston. When he expressed his thoughts, he got bashed. Fast forward 5 years and I am starting to realize not everyone makes this much. It depends on a lot of factors including luck (hence, why I feel fortunate). Now I'm still being bashed when I thank others for giving me some perspective into the "real world." Why would I care what others think of what I earn on an ANONYMOUS forum? I've already said in the past that most of my friends make about the same or more than I do. Why should I feel good about myself? I don't think anyone mentioned anything about this being a competition until you chimed in. You'll never win at life if you think like this because there will always be someone who earns more than you. All this "comparing" is going on in your own head because you have some inferiority complex.

You too Mike, this has turned into a sheet show. I've got real work to do or else I'll be coming into the office again this weekend.

Nah, no way 50% of couples in the Boston area have a 100k plus household income.

I think the median household statewide income is about $75k/year.

I always related someone's socioeconomic status with their work ethic, but over the past few years since turning 30 I realize that's only a small part of it. I'm pretty embarrassed to admit that I've been in my own little bubble of affluence since I was born. Everyone I know my age works hard, but due to not having the burden of student loans they were all able to afford a house in a nice town as they start a family.

As I get older and meet more people in different companies and industries, I'm starting to realize luck is the biggest factor in a young person's financial success. Once people hit mid-career, I think work ethic and ability becomes more pronounced among people in different socioeconomic classes. Management positions pay well no matter what field you're in. There's only so many years someone can complain about how their family's financial situation held them back when they were growing up. After a certain point, you need to take responsibility and make your own path.
You have to read Nickel & Dimed. It is an eye opener. There are also a few new books that are more recent with a similar theme. But if you read that one, you can see a lot of things in a different light.
