That was nerve-racking.

(I think Pearce's foot came off the bag)

Starters usually do a throw through of a few inning to keep in shape so coming in for an inning is no big deal.

They have "New York, New York" playing in the clubhouse while they celebrate.

In terms of game 1 for the ALCS, no. IF they had blown that game and Sale needed to come back tomorrow? It certainly could have had an impact to how long he could have gone.

I agree there was no play at first and on what he was hoping for, but from my perspective, he watched and hoped from the wrong angle.

Had he run into foul territory and watched it from there, he could've kept an eye on the runner at second and looked him back, got him in a rundown, or even made a play at third. He was a bit nonchalant about it and the runner coasted in behind him just about when the ball arrived. Sloppy play and ultimately cost them a run, in my view.

That said, he more than made up for it on the last play of the game. What an ending.

Houston is going to be very tough. That starting pitching is deadly. Also, David Price will have to pitch again. At this point, we have to assume that is going to be a loss, don't we?

Cora announced Price is the game 2 starter. He had a few good starts against Houston this season so there is a shred of hope.

Enjoy Kimbrel this post season (or not). I'd be surprised if the Red Sox re-sign him. There is too much good going on in the Boston sports scene over the next few weeks to even contemplate 4 more years of Price (opt out...Opt Out...OPT OUT...). Once can always dream...
