Does anybody remember E J Crummy? I think that’s how to spell his name. And the rock and roll Air Force?

As I said in another thread, much of my love for the station is because of nostalgia. Thinking of all those djs from the 90s makes me nostalgic - mostly because I was a teenager who thought it was funny when DJs talked about "boobies." As a 41 year old man, I don't find that humor to be quite as endearing as I used to.

Still, gonna miss the old station and all the joy it brought me in my youth.

I think the boston radio scene has gradually died out. Yes there is college but I remember 98.5 toned down then wzlx then wbcn and now waaf. I like 92.9 and maybe some college but streaming and satellite are where it all went. Radio could have developed a bit more but they made serious missteps. If you had a display with a programming guide and recorder that could have helped 25+ years ago but the industry fought new technology. Hd radio came too late but at the same time Sirius xm took forever to merge.

Personally I think satellite is good. I have it in the car and on Alexa.

I still think radio can be a wonderful format. If one skips the iheartradio and conglomerate owned mega companies there are some really good independent stations out there. Let the big boys have their pop 50. The stations I mentioned before have some good programing. Also adding WBUR radio and the sub stations. Todays modern car antennas pick up very fine tuned waves. I sort of hopping radio dies out commercially and becomes an independent platform a la podcast.

there should always be some form of local radio, even for emergencies. I've seen cases where some automatics tracks are put down only to have a major blizzard and there's no update. I used to have shortwave as a hobby but that's really died out. Passport hasn't been published in maybe 10 years now.

Technically there's still pirate radio as well. Brockton seems to be the epicenter.

Some fond memories of AAF from my youth. Rocko and Birdsey in the afternoon. Opie and Anthony - my friends and I used to laugh and laugh at their spoof on the macarena. I remember going to the music store at the Emerald Square Mall (cannot think of the name of it) and having them sign a poster for their "Demented World" CD. The battle between AAF and BCN over who had an early copy of the Aerosmith CD.
