Massachusetts lawmakers introduced legislation Friday that will attempt to end the state’s war on drugs. One proposal would remove criminal penalties for possession of all drugs, while the other would establish a task force to study plant- and fungi-based psychedelics with the eventual goal of legalizing and regulating the substances.

Both weed and booze are legal to be possess.
It is illegal to operate a motor vehicle on both substances.
Heroin is a Schedule 1 narcotic and would not be in the same class as hallucinogens.

Here is a handy chart for you by actual scientists

If you are OUI you will get prosecuted. If you have a single dose (or whatever minimum amount they decide to go with) but you are not high. No.

Great idea. The war on drugs failed completely just like prohibition did 100 years ago.

Um, and fentanyl???

And I am a little skeptical of that list. I mean, have they considered the addiction factor? I want to say cocaine is more addictive than alcohol, that's what makes it dangerous despite maybe one incident of alcohol usage being more dangerous than a single hit of cocaine.

Have they developed a field test for heroin levels? Where do you get this assumption that they "will" be prosecuted?

Why do you need a field test? You don't need a breathalyzer to be pulled over and brought in jail.
If you are high and cannot drive you are going to be pulled over, brought to a jail and then tested for opioids in a facility. This already happens. Typically you screen for a bunch of drugs at the same time.

Again. Heroin will not be included in this bill. Nor will fentanyl. As far as I can dig into the legislation i will start with the smallest classes of drugs.
