The father-in-law of a friend of mine was beaten to death with a baseball bat about 16 years ago here in Needham. He was murdered by a tradesperson he was talking to in his basement. Unfortunately, the murderer was "off his meds." Point being the bat was there, the guy saw it and grabbed, and then used it to murder someone. The victim was an older gentleman so I'm not sure if this was a collectible or leftover from when his kids lived in the house. I don't even own a baseball bat but there are plenty of people who do.

I have many friends/clients who live in that area. Some are just a few houses away. They're in disbelief that this would happen in their neighborhood.

It truly breaks my heart that the children probably watched their father murder their mother. There's no coming back from that and they essentially lost both their parents in one day. I hope there's a relative in the area that can take them in and raise them as their own. It's very possible they might end up in the foster system.

It is sick. I dont know how that POS could do that to his kids. Your kids well being will always be more important than a cheating spouse.

Sounds like they should have gotten divorced years ago:

https://www.masslive.com/news/2023/0...th-murder.html

The killing comes only a few days after Nancy Hanson placed a restraining order against Richard Hanson, one he violated, authorities said. That was the second time her husband violated a restraining order. The first time was in 2021, according to court records obtained by the Boston Globe. He was placed on pre-trial probation then on the condition he attend alcohol counseling and not attack his wife.

In 2020, Nancy Hanson was arrested and charged with domestic violence after she kicked her husband over an argument, court records obtained by the Globe showed.

The case was dismissed when Richard Hanson invoked his marital privilege and refused to testify against his wife, the Globe reported. Both Hansons filed paperwork stating they reconciled their issues.

Nancy Hanson was also arrested on a domestic violence charge in 2020 and accused of kicking Richard during an argument about her online Zumba class interrupting his work, the newspaper reported. The case was later dismissed.

Not clearly at all. Previous assaults and R.O.s. A pattern, not a snap.

I do find this careless speculating about affairs very distasteful.

He said she was having an affair. It's in the article. Maybe she wasn't? It isn't distasteful to discuss what's being reported

It's just interesting to get more of the story. When you hear of one spouse killing the other (in front of the kids!) it's natural wonder why someone would be driven to do such a thing. He gave his answer.

The latest article I saw said the kids were 17, 15, and 11. All three boys were home at the time of the murder and one called 911.

It doesn't matter whether she was cheating on him. Even if she was, there is no excuse to destroy the children by murdering their mother.

It is such a terrible story. The television news says that DCFS took custody of the children, which makes me think there is no local relative. Hopefully, they do have a relative who can care for them and already has a relationship with them.
