Hello,

My wife and I are planing to stay one week in CAPE COD then we'll go to Camden and one last week in Boston and the area.
I wonder where is the best place to stay in CAPE COD. I red about Chatham, Provincetown, I don't known anything about Orleans or Wellfleet.
We are looking for beaches, whale watching, day trip to Martha'sVinyard and Nantucket islands, habor ...
Thank you for your advices.

We recently stayed for a couple of nights in Oaks Bluff ON Martha's Vineyard and then another night in Provincetown.

Even in the off season (now) there's plenty to see and do on Martha's Vineyard so you might find you want more than a day trip.

I loved Provincetown. We managed to stay at a place right on the beach and not far from the pier and thoroughly enjoyed having breakfast on the patio in my pj's while I watched to sun over the water.

I can't really tell you much about the other places you listed other than we passed through some of them.

I loved both Martha's Vineyard and Provincetown and only wish we'd booked to stay a little longer in Provincetown. We managed to see most of what is available on Martha's Vineyard in the two days we were there but didn't have nearly enough time to explore Provincetown and surrounds. We spent time at some gorgeous beaches in the area although I don't think it was whale watching season so can't help you there.

I'd go back to both in a heartbeat, although maybe not this week, now the weather has got so cold.

Anyway there are plenty of really knowledgeable people here in the Massachusetts forum that know a lot more about the state than I do but if you have any questions about where we stayed or restaurants and sites I'm happy to help if I can.

Wellfleet. it has both bay and ocean beaches, freshwater ponds, and it has a charming town center with shops and restaurants. It is/was an artist colony in the past. I like Chatham but it is very crowded and more built up, as is Orleans. Provincetown is 20 minutes away, which is great for a day trip.

Happy new year to hall of you

And thank you for your of advices, It's difficult when everything seems so interesting. We gona choose a vacation rental (not a Hotel) and the location will depend of the house we find with an attention special to Wellfleet and the area.
Do you know if it's possible to come from Boston with the ferry with the car or do we have to take the road?

Thanks again

West Falmouth/ Falmouth/Woods Hole.

(1) the beaches on the western side of the Cape, Upper Cape, are the nicest on the Cape, period. (my opinion). Also they boast the warmest waters during the summer (fact). Old Silver, Chapaquoit, etc.

(2) Woods Hole and Falmouth are the closest to Marthas Vineyard, and both offer several means of ferry and boat to travel to MVY and ACK!

(3) It's close to the mainland, unlike Wellfleet and Provincetown, which are very far.

I spent this past summer and the first half of fall in Cape Cod (a couple weeks in Truro, the rest of the time living in Eastham and working in Provincetown). I've been to almost all of the towns on the Cape I would definitely recommend Provincetown as the best to visit. And yes there is a ferry there from Boston.

There are ferries from Boston to Ptown, but you can't bring your car. If you stay in Ptown and want to do some travelling, you'll need a vehicle. This is actually true of pretty much anywhere on the Cape.

The ferry to Ptown doesn't run in the winter. I think it stops in October (starts again in the spring)......

We have narrowed the choice to North Truro and Wellfleet. North truro is very near PTown which is convenient and I red Wellfleet is a lovely little town. We want to rent a bike for the week, which place or area has the best trail ?

Wellfleet is lovely. My favorite place on the Cape. When are you going? Summer is the most popular but the least enchanting. Too crowded and sticky and the flies will be out in force along marsh trails.

For that late Sept is hard to beat.

Christmas is also special.

Third would be early June.

Enjoy! S.
