You appear willing to give it up all these wonders to move to Texas. At any rate, like has been said before, Nashville has more and better job opportunities, and is in many ways better than Memphis, but it is certainly no great shakes. Unless you consider high crime, bad schools, and urban sprawl great shakes.

I guess because my work generally takes me to the bad parts of town, I've seen the worst of Memphis and the worst of Nashville (as well as the worst of Little Rock, Jackson, MS, Jackson, TN, Knoxville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Chattanooga, TN, etc). And while Memphis is worse than all of those places as a whole (except Jackson, MS), Nashville and every one of the others I mentioned has it's on problems with gangs and crime, as well as large tracts of land dominated by public housing, poverty, and blight. In fact, of that list, I'd rank Nashville only behind Memphis and Jackson, MS for crime and blight. If it makes you feel better to crap on Memphis to praise Nashville (like it makes some folks feel better to say Memphis is better than Detroit), then I won't begrude you the pleasure. But don't expect the folks who live in Memphis to just accept that one of our high class fellow Tennesseans from the east have spoken so we should just shut up and not point out the good things Memphis has to offer.
