Default Finally Memphis (or a suburb of) on a "best of" list

Yeah Memphis always seems to makes the top 10 in violent crimes, lousy places, fattest people, etc...
But finally a suburb of Memphis made a top 10 best of list.

"State by state, the most affordable suburbs that offer the lowest crime rate, finest schools, and best quality of life for the dollar"

Bartlett, ranked #4 on Business Weeks survey of the best suburbs in America.

These BusinessWeek people are clueless.

Since you posted the link, they've changed the article. Bartlett has been replaced by Munford. And the notation at the bottom says that Bartlett is in Tipton County. If they're going to assert themselves as experts on 'best places' or whatever, they should at least get their basic facts straight, pick a place, and stick with it.

In spite of all of that, Bartlett has indeed been on lists similar to this one in years past. I've always thought that Bartlett is one of the best solidly middle-class suburban communities anywhere and is definitely the best in Memphis Metro.

We have lived in Munford for the past 11 years, after living in Memphis and then Oakland, TN. We moved here not knowing a soul and did it strictly for the school system and we haven't had one day that we regretted it. We LOVE it here and highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of getting out of Shelby County, especially if you have young ones in school. I've even gotten my dad and stepmom, my sister and twin nieces and my in laws here so that makes it that much more better.

How's the density, the walkability in Munford? I know it's a small town, but is the planning laissez-faire sprawl-friendly? Sometimes with limited government resources a town will focus on some things and and willingly not emphasize others. Sounds like elementary education is good. What about things to do?

Munford is where I grew up, and it seems a little bit "bigger" every time I come home for the holidays. My folks still live there, and I still consider it home (even living here in FL).

Does it have a town square? Is there a Memphis suburb that you would compare it to?

I just need a cheap, clean 1 bedroom apt. in a decent area, $500+/-mo price range, no drug dealers and low crime. I don't have any kids and am not married. Any suggestions that would keep me close to Covington TN ?
