I'm reading up on GABA (gamma-amino-n-butyric acid - an inhibitory neurotransmitter) deficiency and it seems that this is what is responsible for our anxiety and depression.
Depression
Anxiety, panic, and PTSD
Insomnia
Drug and alcohol dependence
Heart palpitations and muscle pain are more symptoms as are headaches and neck pain and several more.
Google GABA deficiency and GABA to learn more about it.
It seems this could be the cause of many of our mental health and mood issues. I found this by searching emotional instability. It seems there is a lot we can do about, even medications but those are addictive.
LOL ScreenName--I just got thru recommending that book on another thread. She has a website too: Julia Ross' THE MOOD CURE
I don't have much anxiety but I do take GABA sometimes--sometimes when I get mad or extra emotional I'll start to cry and sympathy will make it worse and no one wants to cry at work so I keep a bottle of chewable GABA in my desk and it stops things--which is good, b/c once I get started it can be hard to stop. I know I sound goofy but combine perimenopause with too much estrogen and a scary med dx and you have a sometimes emotionally messed up woman here.
So the chewable GABA does work then? I'm trying to find some so I can put it to the test. Today I was having a bad hair day with anxiety. No triggers, just felt like my head would explode. Getting stuck into work helped after a while. Emotionally, I'm pretty messed up too.
How much GABA is recommended to take? Is it something to take daily? I have taken a little bit of time to research it, I have yet to find anything negative about it.
