So, sending people to prison is the criteria for being a Great Nation? If you're lucky, someday the US will catch up with North Korea and Myanmar---the only countries that are currently ahead of us.

The U.S. is a beacon of honesty for the rest of the world. That's why we put Cheney and GWB behind bars where they belong. We do not tolerate corruption.

I agree with most of what you say (from my limited experience in Mexico), but not this. Many of the foreigners who live there would be relying on Medicaid in the states. They're living in Mexico because their limited income stretches much farther in Mexico, and Mexico takes better care of people like them than the U.S. does.

We foreigners who live legally in Mexico can not financially qualify for Medicaid. We have to prove that we receive over $1400 a mo, produce our benefit letter from Social Security as proof of benefit, three months of bank statements and proof of whatever other income we receive. Anyone who must rely on Medicaid in the U.S. could not financially qualify to live in Mexico or be able to pay the fees to live in Mexico.

I do know some people who receive under $1000 from SS who live here but they have over $20,000 in the bank or own a home. If someone owns property the income level required is less. It's not that much less expensive to live in Mexico than the U.S. and for a lower income person it is more expensive because that person can receive food stamps, free Medicaid, housing help, public transportation aid, etc. in the U.S.

Things like this don't happen in a good country.

Until Mexico and the Mexican's can come to terms with the native population. Mexico can never be a first world nation.
They should let the Indians have casinos like we do here in the USA. Some tribes are now doing very well from the casino money and buying up resorts and will do even better.

Casino type gambling is allowed anyway so it wouldn't be exclusive to the Indians. Too bad because otherwise that would be a good idea.
