I'm currently living in Broward and have been thinking about moving to Miami or somewhere really close to Miami. I'm a single young male, BTW. What's the lowest prices for a one bedroom in a decent area in Miami or in a suburb real close to Miami, something like a 10 minute bus ride? Thanks.

Where you are working at can make a lot of difference to which areas to recommend. If you want a one bedroom apartment in a good area lowest would be around the 800-900 mark or as high as 1400 in really nice areas.

The cheapest would be to find a room mate or effienciency then you can find something for 400 a month for roommate and about 600-750 a month in some areas. It all depends on what you are looking for and your budget.

Thanks for the reply!

I just want to know the lowest prices in decent areas. By decent I mean just that, decent, not high end Brickell, Coconut Grove or places like that. Please mention the areas too, please

Thanks!

It takes the bus 15 minutes just to get from Omni Station to the Government Center...

The cheapest you're going to find in a decent area which is walking or biking distance to Metrorail is around $900, in Dadeland or South Miami. However, nowadays most of them are going for $1k or more. Another area to look at would be along Ponce de Leon in the Gables, especially close to sw 8th st.

A friend of mine used to to rent a small studio in South Beach a block from Lincoln for $650. Nothing fancy.

There are some rentals in South Beach at around $800-$900, nothing fancy and South Beach is all generally decent. There are also some neighborhoods near Coconut Grove on the North side of US1 where you can find some decent rentals in the $900-$1100 range. Also on 27 ave South of US1, though most of those have gone up lately.

Go to Craigslist, type in how much you want to pay and what area you want to live in and see what comes up. Not saying you have to use CL to find a place, but it will show you a range of availability.

I'm trying to find the north-of-us1 area on a map, and it seems to be showing Coral Gables. Do you have an example apartment name (or other business name) in the location you're thinking of so I can zoom in on the map to see nearby rental possibilities?

For someone not from the area, it sure is difficult to tell where one neighborhood ends and the next begins.. thanks for your help.

I think this was referring to the apartments on 27th ave. between US1 and coral way. Coral Gables starts at 37 ave. I know some people had luck in "the roads" too, 1st-3rd ave. where the cross streets are "roads" instead of "streets." Many of them are an easy walk to Viscaya Station, which would be a 5 minute ride into Brickell and downtown.
