Ahhh, so you think the State and federal gov't directed Miami to use the funds to build a new bridge there??? Yeah right!

They should use that money for a rail link between Miami beach and Miami.

While the current bridge is not as good looking as the new bridge, it is still perfectly functional.

Metro rail when it was built should have gone to the airport and Miami beach... (in addition to the existing downtown stops) that would be worth putting the $600m towards. Just my .02.

No. I think Miami wants it but you aren't getting it. This isn't city money, or county money. This is state money which probably includes some federal dollars. Miami or the county had very little to no say whether this funding was approved or not. Is not the city or county funds.

Well Metrorail does go to the airport now. $600 million is not enough to expand metrorail more than a few miles. I agree with everyone that I would rather have this money go towards transit and some other improvements but we need a few billion to get metrorail to be halfway decent.

I know it goes to the airport now, only 29 years way too late. Should've been done by the time it opened in 1984. Of course it was supposed to open sooner than 1984.

Hey if the Feds want to throw money down here, fine, but throw it at projects we desperately need to continue to survive down here. There is a shell game too, 'we' (City/County) have been FINED millions by the Feds for non-compliance...

The bridge is a good idea and will improve the area, no doubt, but 600 million to replace something that already exists is kind of wasteful when you think of all of the other things that that money could go towards. Like others have said expanding Metrorail would not be a bad idea.

Not going to work. As a conservative you'd think Scott would be against this kind of "Pork" spending...but I guess not when it comes to highways.

The M-Path isn't utilized nearly enough and that only has a train passing overhead every so often. I can't see anyone strolling along with cars zooming overhead making all sorts of noise.

I mention something like a tourist attraction because tourist always seem to flock to kitschy places when they're in different cities. A model could be something like Underground Atlanta (in its better years!)
In the future, there will be no noise because all the cars will be electric.
