I'm back here for the Holidays and to get some things in order, but to none-of-my surprise, Miami hasn't changed a bit. I went shopping to Cutler Bay Mall, and all I saw was the same old thing. Rude, unfriendly people left and right. Cops in the mall, empty police patrol cars parked outside the mall (as if people didn’t know they are empty). Dirty streets, overweight people. (grossly overweight) Wow, even the store clerks were rude and unpleasant. I've been in Las Cruces only a few months and believe me. There is just not comparison between the two cities. I am not sorry I left. I heard about the cops being killed in Fort Lauderdale, and the chain of banks and armored trucks being struck by crime. Same old, same old…
I can’t wait to leave again.

Question: Is there any hope for this city?

You expect it to change in a couple months? And Cutler Bay Mall? Talk about rude nasty overweight people. It's like you intentionally tried to give yourself the worst experience possible to go to that mall.

Until the real estate bubble pops and people stop dumping themselves in south Florida there is no hope. A healthy economy and lower living expenses will benefit everyone. The more people struggle, the more rude they are. The hot weather is the main reason so many people here are overweight, combined with the genetics of the main groups you see.

Mestizo people are traditionally short by genetics. No people of any particular race/ethnicity is genetically overweight.

BUT...you are spot on.

That is false, the reason people are overweight is because they're incredibly lazy . If you go up to the northeast U.S. you will notice many more overweight people than here. At least they have cold, freezing weather as an excuse not to get exercise! The weather here is very nice, and if I manage to be physically fit here in South FL then there's no excuse for anyone else!

Even on very nice days here you'll be hard pressed to find people outside exercising... they're too busy on their computers and glued to their televisions... Sure, these are fun activities, but they're not meant to be spent on all day long.

Wow how deep and profound .... and would not this be like going back to Hialeah after leaving and judging all of South Florida by your experience ?

I totally agree with you that there is no comparison. I've been through Las Cruces several times back when I was living in Tucson. You couldn't pay me enough money to live there.

Hialeah? Home of the santeria, roosters, and botanicas? Oh no, I wouldn't say all South Florida is like that.

If Miami is your city. Be it. I don't think you'll be happy in LC anyway.

yes I would imagine there are no overweight or rude people in New Mexico. Cops in a mall? Perhaps we could have sent them to that safe state of Nebraska! Will you be complaining in Las Crueces when illegal Mexicans show up at your 7/11?
