LOL. That's your ideal point in time for Miami Beach?? A rundown, old-age, retirement area with dilapidated buildings? You've got to be kidding.

Waikiki Beach?? That's even funnier than your comment about Miami Beach in the 70s. I love Hawaii, but Waikiki is all of the worst aspects of Hawaii all bundled up in one place.
I agree I was in Miami Beach in 1976 and South Beach was depressing, dead-looking and rundown. I love it today as far as the Art Deco and neon lights at night. It just seems a bad element has gotten in there or there is too much allowed for this debauchery to happen. Maybe we are making too much of this article.

The beauty of South Beach is there is not too much to patrol as there are just a few main streets of activity.

Turn South Beach into Atlanta, I like Atlanta's nightclub scene its trendy but not as pretentious as South Beach.

Yes, I am so glad people saw what a bad idea that sort of business is. I am glad Miami won't have anything to do with more casinos either. Brings the wrong sort of people around.

The stabbing lady said she "had to kill her and two more", sounds like the voices in her head giving directions.

I heard on the news that several people thought the stabbing was part of the show. Apparently stuff that is bazaar happens all the time at this event. Glad I don't hang out in that crowd.

The shooting happened several blocks from my house, the barbershop (razzledazzle) is one I routinely go to. I saw they had blocked Alton passed 16th street, but I had no idea it was due to a shooting until I heard from other people.

Really we have a lot of crazy homeless people here. It's warm in the winter and there are a lot of tourists to give them a few bucks. I really don't want to increase the police presence here, it's already too much imo.

Well the rising tide will eventually fix the problem. Shifting sands and ocean currents will take care of it. Can't mess with mother nature.

South Beach is a poser-foreigner-rapper-wanna-be area where anything goes. It is a highly over-rated area. NFL Quarterback Peyton Manning stated privately he would never live in his push Continuum Condo and his contract to sign for the Fins was almost the same as Denver but he chose Denver because of Miami's social anti-assimilation problems. I know people who know Manning, so this is fact. Bottom line, if you choose to live SoBe then you must accept all the negatives there. IMO SoBe is unstable, transient, foreigners, flooding, direct hit Hurricanes, traffic, over-populated, etc. Have a nice day.
