Possibly moving to the area with my family (wife and 2yr old) looking at cutler bay area. How's the commute to the Miami Seaquarium? Any other areas that we may want to look at. I know that's a broad statement. Also thinking about Pembroke Pines. Want fun restaurants/bars, good schools, etc. Thanks
Really depends on where you are working. Quite frankly, I find the seaquarium disturbing. The conditions are nasty and the tank for the killer whale is flat out illegal. There is a lot of controversy concerning her. http://www.orcanetwork.org/Main/inde...es_file=Lolita I won't personally support the place and I don't bring my kids there and probably never will. Plenty of other options in South Florida.
Useless 1 heading N in the AM and S in the PM RUSH Hrs it's definetely a Parking Lot and really with no other alternative for the commute.. a frustrating drive.

I agree that it would be a frustrating drive and an awful commute; however, there are a couple of alternatives that don't involve US1. They're longer, and I doubt they would save much, if any, time during the traditional rush hour period, but it might be better emotionally to be actually moving rather than be in constant stop-and-go, bumper-to-bumper traffic on US1 the whole way. Moreover, if you can travel outside of the standard rush hour periods, they're a lot better than taking US1 the entire way.
1) Turnpike --->836 --->I-95S
2) Turnpike --->874--->826--->836--->I-95S
There's also one that omits most of the US1 drive and only picks it up NE of Dadeland:
3) Turnpike ---> 874 ---> 878 ---> US1
My sister lives in Cutler Bay and my house is about a mile and change from the entrance to Rickenbacker Cswy, so I'm familiar with the routes.
There are two ways, US-1 and Old Cutler, both suck. If you leave at 8am on a normal school day, you are looking at an hour and fifteen minutes or so easy to get there. Non-school days, 45 minutes or so.
If you're not dead-set on Cutler Bay you should look at other areas, the commute won't be fun at all. Same goes with Pembroke Pines. Not sure what your budget is, but there are nice areas much closer
