I can't believe that! We don't have anything like that up here near Boca. We do put out stuff for bulk pick up day, but get this: The last time I put out the huge pieces for bulk pick up day, it was gone the very next day. Somebody came by and took all of it except for a garden hose. I admit I took a few things my neighbors were getting rid of. But, why waste? They didn't want it, it was in perfect condition and it's great for resale on Ebay.

I just never, ever heard of somebody dumping bulk items on anybodies doorstep before, but I have heard of people coming by to pick it all up before they come to take it away. My neighbor had a nice television set and coffee table, too. Just the other day she put it out. I called my girlfriend to see if she wanted it. She said, "hold it for me." Sure enough, I went outisde to grab it and I was too late. A lawn service company stopped by, and put it on their truck. They were driving away as I went out with my dolly to bring it in the house.....

Hey, I am sorry you have to go through that. It should be the other way around. People should be leaving bulk items outside to get rid of, not to drop off???

The sad thing is, Palm Beach County, FL is really changing as well (maybe it's because A LOT of Miami's population is moving here? ). We have alot of crime, racism, etc. here as well just like it's being described in the Miami thread. West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach are especially like this. Although this doesn't happen in upscale areas like Boca Raton in most others like West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Lantana, Greenacres, Palm Springs, Delray Beach, etc. it will. Just this year we've had a few helicoptors over our homes over killings and drug busts. So don't think it's just Dade county, it happens in Palm Beach County and Broward as well...

And to think this used to be such a nice area to live in...

The problems in Palm Beach County are more a reflection of what is going on in the rest of the U.S. than in Miami . You have a much , much lower percentage of Hispanics in Palm Beach County and the demographic is different mostly Mexican and Central American migrant workers . It actually reminds me more of Los Angeles or Houston than Miami ... don't have the Cubans to blame on this one . Most of the people I know that have moved to Palm Beach County are affluent and now live in Wellington , but I have heard that African American and Haitain gangs are a problem .

For real! I have seen as many love seats by the road as Christmas trees in January. See, here in Miami, we locals don't beleive in driving a few miles to the local dumpster and properly dispossing of the tree. It is better to drive down the highway and throw it out the window. Then it will lay there for many months until the City decides to pick it up. Oh the wonders of Miami! Not your average mid-size city.....

I must say that I live in Hialeah and i do not wake up to ghetto birds telling me to stay indoors. Garbage fishermen, most definitely, that's a given. but helicopters overhead, no sorry not here.

Unless you're living in the Upper East Side or Beverly Hills, you put something out in front of your lawn, anywhere in this country, if someone wants it, they're going to take it. You're getting rid of it, and if it's in good condition, why waste it? It's not a Miami thing, this happens everywhere, it's common sense stuff. It'll happen in Miami, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Palm Beach, LA, etc. etc.

I had the ghetto birds (lol. Never heard that term before) in my neighborhood (Homestead) about two weeks ago. The police were going yard to yard looking for someone. I heard them open my garbage cans and check if the suspect was hiding in there. I checked the websites the next day to see if there was any word on what it was about but of course a police dragnet doesn't make the news. I hope they caught him.
