Crisp

If Spain would have followed the American example, we wouldn't have any space left by now, and no water, and Spain is big compared to some European countries. The entire Mediterranean coast is now a continuous strip of developments and there's are like 500.000 unsold properties.

But Real State prices in this part, around Barcelona, have changed very little. We have many large houses here, but you must be a millionaire to buy one, or to maintain one.

As to Eduardo, he's suffering a Fountainebleu shock. I bet that if he moves to Spain, he would end up saying that all Spanish are Ecuatorians, Colombians, Bolivians, Argentineans (none "Euro"). That's what he will find in the area he can afford.

Here's a pic of two very famous Cubans (on the other side), very popular in Cuba and the subject of every joke in the island. There are your typical ilustrious "ex-Nomenklatura". They were elite until a few weeks ago.

The built environment in Spain is much more agreeable to me than that of the United States. I like how you have dense cities, historic towns outside of the cities, and then miles of countryside until the next city or town. I don't know Barcelona very well but at least in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, the new suburban areas are built fairly densely and with bus and cercanía ("commuter train") stops to bring you to not only the Madrid centro, but also to the other suburbs. It takes up more land space and creates more interior area to power and heat...

Honestly, large houses in desirable areas should be for the rich. What's the prestige in having a large house if almost every Don Fulano in Spain could afford one (like the situation in suburban Atlanta)?

Ha Ha Ha....

again

Ha Ha Ha....

If I migrate to Italy... it won`t be on a boat

Italians don`t have a low quality of life.... I would be a naturalized Italian citizen if I migrate to Italy...

And I don`t see a huge wave of Europeans migrating to USA, so Europeans must probably have a decent/good quality of life...

Crisp...

I don`t speak Italian...but I know I am intelligent enough to learn Italian...and that`s exciting for me... learn new languages... and Italian is not hard for people that knows Spanish.

The average 2 bedroom home in Napoli costs 400 Euros monthly. The minimum salary is 800 Euros and after 3 months it increases to 1200 Euros (1600 USD) (that would be the worse scenario)...

1600 * 2 (Couple) = 3200 USD (income)

A couple can easily have a good quality of life in Italy. I won`t make the good $$$ that I make here but I prefer to have less money and be happier (Culture, Museums, Public transportation, Education, and universal healthcare).

It all depends in what makes you happy...

For Example,

Crisp, you might want to be successful lawyer. I know that you will probably accomplish your goals... you seem to be highly educated (good knowledge..etc)... maybe the money makes you happy and a Hummer for example...who knows.. I don`t know...

$$$ isn`t everything...

Leovigildo.. Crisp... I would have liked from you a few more details/info about Europe....

Saludos

I don`t care if I have Argentines, Canadians, Colombians, Cubans, Eastern Europeans, as neighbors.... I want to live in Europe for personal/sentimental reasons...

Stop the hate fellows....

By the way,

Spain has a %17 percent unemployement rate...

wow....

20 per cent...

Do you want to live in a cheap apartment in Naples?
Have you ever been to Naples?
Are you crazy?
400 euros a month in Italy...even in Naples...
That apartment must be hell.
You must be talking about the old city, hope you know people in the Camorra.
Man, I'd rather move to Overtown, no kidding.
Naples, the place with apartments at 400 euros, is a place so dangerous that tourists are escorted by Carabinieri and by special Tourist police for not being robbed and stabbed. That place has no law. Camorra rules. The police does not enter in the city.
Italian you say....no, Napolitano, they speak Napolitano, very hard to understand, not for us here since we speak a similar garble here, they are related to us, Catalans (they were a possession).

Of course, Naples has cozy neighbouring towns (if you like earthquakes and volcanos) geared for Italian middle class (a lot of dough), or the Island of Capri (for millionaires).

Leo, much of Naples is dirty and run-down, but it's not nearly as bad as Overtown. To be fair, however, there are some beautiful little towns just south of Naples along the northern stretch of the Amalfi coast. I don't know about the towns to the north or east enough to comment.
