Is it just me,but I notice when i was living in miami,I ran into so many people that came from up north, and other areas on the map running from the cold, and snow fleaing to miami just to work like a regular type of customer service job, fast food place,or some may even get lucky finding a job that pays them double digits but in miami as if thats going ot save them being its so expensive, but my question is,is the miami lifestyle worth living in miami when one makes no real money, and working some regular wack job? I dont get it,how people lie to themselves and say they are happy with a 15 thousand dollar a year salary.I learn the hard way and when i return to miami or california in the distant future at least i want to have a career

Maybe they aren't lying to themselves.

I'd rather live in Miami on 15-20K than Buffalo, NY on 50K. Location means a lot to some people for a variety of reasons.

I don't have kids. I'm wealthy but I've lived in South Florida when i wasn't. It's obviously sub-optimal, but it can be fine if you've got a roommate.

I've found places that are better for me.

I'd rather not have roommates either. I'd also rather not do a lot of things relative to finance. That's the point, dude- you're implying nobody can be happy on 15-20 grand, but that's just not true. Maybe you can't see it, or understand it, but it exists in a very real way all across the country, and the world.

Na,you took it the wrong way,i never said no one can be happy on that kinda salary, what I mean is,living in areas like Miami,or even California, what is the point if one cant truly enjoy what these places have to offer? I just see no point in that

Outofthematrix:

Try living in the barren parts of South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Nebraska, etc. Then you will understand why people want a taste of civilization.

I look to move for specific career goals. [Military and the cruise line industry]
