I still don't understand how the new system will work.

I wasn't able to find any official reports about this from a government agency when this thread was opened.

Are the gonna lower the TOLL on the Snapper Creek after Killian(currently $1.00 w/ Sunpass)? I don't get it Are they all gonna be $0.25 cents? They should have more official statements since it's gonna affect so many people.

^^^They are running commercials that is their way of letting the public know, they also sent a thing in the mail... But for the most part they have been keeping this hush hush, because they know people would be in a uproar if they knew earlier. There is a group that is going to try to sue the state of Florida to get rid of MDX all together, and give back tax payer dollars to those roads, so that the tolls can be done away with.

Right now the snapper creek expressway doesn't have any tolls. When this gets start here in July I believe, there will be two tolls at .25 a piece on the snapper creek. One will be west of the Galloway Exit and another toll east of the Galloway Exit on the 874.

Then there will be three tolls on the 874, instead of the single toll south of Killian Parkway. One toll will be south of Killian Parkway, it will be .25 instead of the 1.00 it is know for sunpass customers. There will be a .25 toll just north of Killian Parkway and then a .50 toll just before the 874 meets the 826. So for those that have been using the 874 and paying the 1.00 sunpass toll south of Killian Parkway, the price will be the same if they go to the 826 or US1. Those people that get on at Killian Parkway will pay less to go south (.25) but will now have to pay .75 to get to US1 or the 826. And now the people that get on at the new Kendall exit or Galloway will have to pay a toll which they haven't had.

The worst part about it is MDX may raise the rates on all their Roads in three years. They own the 112, Gratiney, 836 and the 836 Extension, 874 and the Snapper Creek. If I were coming from the west Kendall I would drive the extra 2 miles to the 826 or US1 and avoid the 874 all together.

Thank you, I meant 874, sorry I'm not good with the names of those expressways. I think the correct name is Don Shula. Yes I remember when that toll used to be $0.25, and now is $1.25. I guess someone has to pay for those pink walls.

They are still doing the never ending construction in 874. The road is full of uneven lanes and they close 874 from time to time at night.

Found this, which seemed to be from The Herald just yesterday, link for full story below

Beginning July 17, motorists will encounter two tolls on State Road 874 costing 25 cents each, one toll north of the interchange on State Road 874 costing 50 cents and two tolls on State Road 878 costing 25 cents each.

Saw the other day that MDX is going to "allow" you to pay CASH to load your Sunpass at local stores, gas stations, etc. But, you will be charged a a $1.50 service fee for paying CASH each time you load funds to your Sunpass. WOW, how nice of them to do that for CASH paying customers!

get used to it people because I currently live in Orlando and every single expressway is TOLLED here! The vast majority are unmanned also so forget about trying to get change as well! As a welcoming gift from a relative they gave me a Sunpass transponder! "Welcome to Orlando!" I seriously don't know how the tourists here deal with this mess since there are even toll roads at some exits!
At least Miami still has some roads without tolls still!

For now...

Who knows, maybe the tolls will flop, as it seems its been done in SC with the Southern Connector which has filed for bankruptcy

With all the traffic the tolled roads will continue to receive I highly doubt it's gonna go away anytime soon. Just get a Sunpass Mini and be done with it.
