Montague and Whitehall are very nice little towns, the people were very welcoming, we found good food, everything we look for in a getaway. We will definitely be coming back.
We really like that area too. Just discovered it really last year.

I just tried the bike path this year that runs South of Whitehall. It was really cool, until I got lost in a big office park and couldn't find the trailhead, lol. Ended up on the road and then took that down along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Spectacular riding.

yeah...we went that way and ended up at a little place to eat on a side road. Didnt look like much, till we went in to eat and it opened up into a huge area to eat outside in the back part...it was real cool! I guess that trail goes north for quite some ways.

Indeed, MI does have the best lakes inland and great. So clean and no critters to worry about. True story, I was in a FL lake one afternoon swimming with my cousin , aunt and uncle and I was about chest deep, my cousin, she was about 10 ft or so closer to shore. All of the sudden these two black gals a few yards beyond myself exit the water with raucous laughter. Shortly thereafter, my cousin yells her bloody fool head , unintelligible babble, so she points to the source of the commotion and it is a "Baby Ruth", similar to the Caddyshack variety but the real deal within mere feet of me and we all made a hasty exit to shore. I haven't been in the water, salt nor fresh in FL since.

I can't help but notice that you pointed the fact that the "gals" were black. Just an observation.

All right, to be fair I've seen on several occasions white trash drunks on FL beaches, obnoxious, throwing their frisbees and footballs with no regard to families that are trying to enjoy the beach. Never seen that behavior on a Lake Michigan beach either, everyone seemed to be well behaved.

I've saw that last summer in Ludington. Ironically enough, the group that was being totally obnoxious drove up in a vehicle with FL plates. Just a gentle word that if their GD football flew into our group again I was going to cut it in half, then ram it down their respective throats put an end to their BS.

I see very little obnoxious behavior on Michigan beaches. I dont really go to the crazy busy ones in the southwest corner, but the ones we go to when we camp all summer, there is nothing that sticks out that made me upset. The only time I've see that behavior are at campgrounds we go to that have pools. I HATE going to those, but my kids and wife like them.
