I heard the waves on Superior could reach 30 ft...is this true?

Our leaves are turning brown & falling off with the lack of rain this year. I should say NO rain this year.
Our peak is usually around the 3rd week of Oct.
Mother Nature has NOT been kind this year for many states.

If this wind and rain keep up, a lot of leaves are going to be stripped before they have a chance to turn.

My husband and I both had a heck of a week. He was notified Monday afternoon he had to be in NYC the next day, and will be there during the week for a month. After he got there he was informed it would be 6 weeks. While he was gone I got the worst case of food poisoning I've ever had.

So what better to do with his one full day home than take a drive to Charlevoix and enjoy all the fall color? God's medicine, folks. Cures ANYTHING.

Not sure if this will work, but I have an album of photos of Charlevoix and one of just stopping for fall color on the way home. I got distracted by nice views, but there are a few where we're up high overlooking woods, and you're starting to see that spreading sea of color.... And a few neon colors here and there.

We have some red maples on our two-track. Woooohooo! This was the cool thing, we saw this place right before Thanksgiving, so we had no idea what we would find come spring and fall. And I can't wait for the first snowfall.... We had 5 ft of snow pack in some places when we moved in! I want to see the first snows.... Ah....

Can't wait to build the guest cabin with a fireplace AND a wood stove. We don't have either in this house. Seems fundamentally wrong not to enjoy this weather with a roaring fire, but we'll get there. Meanwhile it's just an excuse for another cuppa joe or some hot chocolate, right?

Anyway, the two albums:

Charlevoix (mostly the beach near the old reactor, but the last one is just the color on the roads home):

These were mostly a scenic overlook on 131 S about 30 miles north of Big Rapids I think?:

(sorry for the abysmal links...)

Hubby and I took a Goldwing ride today. Colors are about 50-60% developed around the Cadillac/McBain/Lake City area. There is a nice section of color between Cadillac and Reed City on US 131 as well.

I posted this in the photo thread but I thought I'd place it here also.

And Sillypups... 30 foot waves are quite common on Superior, and larger.

I always love the pix y'all post... You're all better photographers.

The colors are jaw dropping, it's like looking at a fine painting, only lovelier.

My favorite recurring thread anywhere, evah.
