Man this is bad. At some point the rich will own most of the great real estate in the country will the middle class and poor will be squeezed out into limited access. I suppose Ayn Rand would approve.

Out here in west Michigan, public lands are being sold off bit by bit - especially waterfront property. It's all under the radar - you always see new real estate signs cropping up where maps indicate public property. I have seen public boat launches and 2-tracks closed up and replaced by driveways to expensive homes.
It's a gradual trend which will probably continue forever.

I'm glad that there are a few conservancies buying up land around here, we don't need any more development.

Once land goes from public to privately owned, it rarely if ever gets reverted back to parkland or greenspace. Pretty much gone forever.

The population of the USA is growing very rapidly, mainly from very large amounts of immigration. The people will have to live somewhere.

True, fortunately for us some very few people will their property back to the state as preserves. I can't think of which one in Oceana County, but I believe it was land owned by a former U.S. President. I'm guessing Buchanan (Memorial Preserve?) on or near Buchanan Road.

A government big enough to give all that we want is a government big enough to take all that we have.
