Wow...all of a sudden Memorial weekend is just around the corner.
Three weeks from tomorrow is one of N. Michigan's great events, the 28th (I think?) Annual Leland Wine & Food Festival.
Such a cool spot for a party...in Leland harbor right next to Historic Fishtown. Tons of Northern wine, lots of locally made food, great jazz and blues, and does it get any better than a day in Leland? Beautiful beaches, lots of cools shops and galleries, great restaurants, a postcard-pretty town. That's why it's always on my schedule, always the 2nd Saturday in June.

I just discovered that, for the very first time I know of, you can buy tickets ahead of time. I'm sooo there, it sure beats waiting in that long line for the festival to open at noon. It looks like the ticket sales are connected to Traverse Magazine or their website. I'm buying now.... and thinking about Pinot Gris and smoked fish. Awesome

I'm thinking about that "Fishtown White." We've got some awesome wines up here in the north.

A week from this coming Saturday...can't wait! We had such a good time last year.
I even got my picture on this website...Keith Burnham's www.lelandreport.com. He does a shot every day, going back over 10 years, lots of beautiful photos of Leelanau.
I think Verterra Pinot Blanc and Chateau Fontaine's white wines are my favorites.

THIS SATURDAY!!
I'm sooo ready for a nice day in Leland. The weather forecast looks good...partly cloudy, warm, light breeze....and the wineries will be pouring some of the new 2012 vintage wines that are just being released. What I've tasted a few weeks ago were awesome.
And for the first time in a few years, no construction! The harbor project is done and looks great, including the new public restrooms, very welcome. Great band this year too.
