Default A quiet place

We built a second home in Lake Ann a couple of years ago and we have come to enjoy the community enough that it is becoming more of our main residence over our place in S.E. Michigan.

Lake Ann is a very small town. Very quiet and friendly. We spent a lot of time looking for property in N.W. Michigan where we could build a home in a quiet, secluded place and enjoy the outdoors. Lake Ann fit the bill. It is part of Almira Township in the N.E. corner of Benzie County. Benzie boasts that there is only one stop light in the entire county.

We were amazed when we went to the county offices to get our building permits for the first time. The N.E. corner of Benzie county is obviously benefiting from the spillover of growth from Traverse City.

Even though Lake Ann is small and quiet, we don't have to travel far to the "big city" of Traverse where there is a major hosipital, all of the stores that you would be used to, and tons of great eating establishments. There are also a lot of artsy-fartsy types in the nearby communities of Interlochen, Leelenau County, and Traverse. Lots of opportunities for outdoor activities with Skiing, hunting, the beaches on Lake Michigan, the Dunes national park, etc, etc.

My uncle lives in Lake Ann. I've been there a few times. It's a very nice area. The town is very small, but quaint. There's a small restaurant, hardware/party store/grocery store, church, park, and lake, in town. It's approx 30 mins from Traverse City. The property taxes are more affordable in Lake Ann (Benzie county), than in Traverse City (Grand Traverse county).

My brother in law is the mayor of Lake Ann. My mom went to camp as a kid there, I went there, and my kids go there now. LA is near and dear to our hearts. We love it.
